The Case For Investment

“…Free enterprise is key to human flourishing… The whole truth takes into account that part of our human nature is a deep drive to find meaning through work, productivity, and even creativity, and that the free enterprise system enables this…. This means that, much like democracy, capitalism is a deeply morally righteous system.”

The Situation

Short-term exit strategies abound in existing world markets. But where can the investor find long-term growth environments to foster capital appreciation? The greatest prospects for the most growth over the longest period of time are where there is no wealth yet. Developing countries, and more specifically the rural populations (50% overall) of developing countries in Africa, that have no wealth yet. It’s estimated there are 310,000 of them. To be sure, there are high risks that challenge wealth creation in rural markets of Africa:

  • Clean water is scarce / non-existent in the rural villages, leading to sickness & poor/no crops.
  • 3/4ths of rural African villages are off the power grid, curtailing productivity after daylight-hour work without machine leverage.
  • Few families can pay school fees that represent huge investments for them: Children are ‘farmed out’ to relatives in larger towns for schooling.
  • Without factory jobs, most villages depend on subsistence farming without irrigation. Men are exported to remote mining areas to generate remittances that support

The Mission

The Global Digital Village (GDV) seeks to manage & grow rural African village markets so that

  • All family members stay & work within their village proper, to create local wealth – and a coherent market
  • Local business generates wealth in goods & services that are sold in village, to the nation, to the region, & globally
  • Each GDV village’s long-term economic prospect is a new GDV investment opportunity – local power plants will evolve into new rural electricity grids
  • Every GDV investment in a village improves the performance of every other GDV investment in that village

Each Global Digital Village is not just one business case — at least ten (10) distinct investment opportunities will be started and managed in every village.   1 Vlg Analysis
